Equipment and Team Store

Ready to play? Here's what you'll need.

Each player will need a youth field hockey stick, field hockey shin guards and a mouthguard. Balls and pennies will be provided by the program. Youth sticks can be purchased online or in a sports store in the area. Play-It-Again Sports has a good selection as well as Dicks. Have questions about size or fit? Contact us.

Youth Field Hockey Stick

To find the right stick length, have the player stand upright and hold the stick vertically beside them — the top of the stick should reach roughly to their hip bone or waist. When in doubt, it's better to size slightly shorter, as a stick that's too long can hinder control and proper technique for young players.

Shinguards

To size youth field hockey shin guards, measure from just below the knee to just above the ankle and match that to the guard's coverage area. They should fit snugly without sliding or restricting ankle movement.

Mouthguard

A youth sports mouthguard should mold snugly to the upper teeth without needing to be held in place by biting down. Boil-and-bite mouthguards are the most common option, softened in hot water and pressed to the teeth for a custom fit.
